Desire Unfulfilled

My skin,
tingling along to
the grinding rhythm
of electric guitars

My heart,
the heavy beating
pounding to the driving
pattern of the drums

My breath,
erratic and wistful,
silent sobs dryly echoing
the power of screaming vocals

My soul,
crying out in desperation,
weeping with the knowledge
that there is still a long wait -
as long as the silence between songs,
stretching to eternity.

*NOTE: I worked a little on my first version of this poem, and eventually this is what I submitted to Out of Words.
